A school built around the child

Favours Wings School serves families in Kitale and the wider Trans Nzoia community with a complete CBC pathway from pre-primary through to Grade 9.

Our story

Grown one class at a time

The school began with a simple conviction: children in Kitale deserve a school where high academic expectations and genuine pastoral care are not in competition. What started as a small pre-primary and lower-primary school has grown steadily into a full CBC institution teaching learners up to Grade 9.

Growth has been deliberate. Each level was added only once the teaching, the facilities and the staffing could support it, so no learner is stretched into a class the school is not ready to run well.

Today day learners come from around Kitale and boarding learners join us from further afield, sharing the same classrooms, the same teachers and the same standards.

What we stand for

  • Every child is capable of more than they yet believe
  • Good teaching starts with knowing the learner
  • Discipline is firm, fair and explained
  • Parents are partners, not spectators
  • Effort and integrity matter as much as results
Mission

Teach well, care deeply

To provide a rigorous, competency-based education in a safe and disciplined environment, so that every learner leaves us prepared for senior school and for life.

Vision

Learners who fly

To be the school families in Kitale trust most: known for confident, capable learners and for graduates who conduct themselves with integrity.

Motto

Flying Higher For Excellence

Excellence here is not a prize for the few. It is the habit of doing your best work, honestly, and then raising the standard again next term.

How we teach

Competence before coverage

The CBC asks what a learner can actually do. Our planning follows that question rather than racing through a syllabus.

Know the learner

Class teachers track reading age, numeracy and attendance, and act on the first sign of a gap rather than at the end of term.

Plan for competencies

Lessons start from a learning outcome, with tasks that require learners to apply, explain and create — not only to recall.

Assess continuously

Classwork, projects and practical work are recorded through the term, so reports describe progress rather than one bad week.

Support and stretch

Remedial sessions for learners who need another attempt; extension work for those ready to go further.

Our people

Teachers who stay

Continuity matters. Our teachers know the families they serve, the classes they taught last year, and which learner needs a word of encouragement on a Monday morning.

Staff meet weekly to review learning, share what worked and agree support for learners who need it — a routine that keeps standards consistent from PP1 to Grade 9.

A child who is known, challenged and encouraged will outgrow every prediction made about them.
